Cars, Cars, Cars = Dax's Birthday

We had to have a car cake of course and it was the easiest cake to make (no stress, or maybe I am just getting better at it).

We celebrated Dax's birthday with friends on the 13th. We had a low key BBQ with friends Lisa and Jim and their kids, who I met through Little Friends(Emily and Adelaide were classmates)and playgroup. Charlie and Dax are two peas in a pod and play nicely together...they both LOVE cars!

Mia's Fancy Nancy Birthday

I know this is 6 months late in getting posted and I promised to put them up ages ago, but better late then never!

We had a Fancy Nancy party for her and all the girls wore their fancy clothes. I did their make-up and painted their finger nails and then read a Fancy Nancy book before we ate. We had fancy sandwiches and fruit kabobs on 'frilly' toothpicks!

Mia wanted a cake like the one in the Fancy Nancy book, so I attempted a 2 tiered cake for her. She picked out the colors and I made a flower topper like the ones that went on the hats for the girls. The cake was a little lop-sided but of course Mia thought it was perfect and that's all that matters!

All the tres tres fancy girls in their hats and boas!

"I only cried a little, then I stopped."

Adelaide has been talking about getting her ears pierced for the last couple of months. She reminded me on Saturday that what she really wanted for her birthday was to get her ears pierced. After Aaron drug his feet and asked her many times if she was sure and then made a big deal about looking at her pretty ears without earrings before we left, we made it out the door and to the Treasure Coast Mall with Jammy Lamby and Blankie in tow.

She never wavered in her conviction to go through with it, however she did get a bit nervous while we were waiting for helper #2 to check out other costumers. You can see how she was squeezing her arm... I thought she would leave a bruise!

She didn't cry initially and had it not been for the 9 or 10 year olds in the back ground that said "She didn't even cry.", she may have toughed her way through it.
She shows everyone her earrings and tells them "I only cried a little, then I stopped.", which is very accurate. She cried for less than 15 seconds and in those 15 short seconds 4 big tears managed to roll their way down her cheeks. She wiped them off and said "I wanna see them!"

Here is Dax going through the list of some of the most common words we hear from him on a daily basis. CAR is the word we hear most often... after getting a bunch of Matchbox Cars from the Easter Bunny he is obsessed to say the least. I made the mistake of letting him watch Disney Pixar's Car in the van and now he throws a fit 'til we put it back in (the girls have watched Cars at least 10 times in the last week).

Adelaide's 5th Birthday

Adelaide is 5 already, it doesn't seem possible but she is. We took her to Disney on the 8th and did a quick visit. We were in and out in 4 1/2 hours...seemed more like 10. It was crowded and HOT, I think the temp. topped out at 96 and we were there for the worst of it 12:00 to 4:30.
On Saturday we had a birthday party fit for a princess. I made her a Cinderella cake and we played princess inspired games, Kiss the Frog, Poison Apple (like hot potato), and Magic Carpet Ride (like musical chairs). Kiss the Frog was my favorite and I think it was a toss up for the girls between Kiss the Frog (they liked putting lip-stick on) and Poison Apple.
